MFT Camp Create Day 1 – Wonderful Watercolor

Hey Crafties!

Today I am sharing a card made with ‘My Favorite Things’ products for their Camp Create Day 1 – Wonderful Watercolor.

Watercolor is such a fun medium. You never know what the end result will be like. It really teaches us to go with the flow.

For this card today, I took a white cardstock panel and gave it a wash of water on the lower right in a scalloped circle kind of motion.

Then I came back with a wash of different shades of green, one after the other. And then let the color flow on its own.

I also added some splatters.

And then foam mounted my cute giraffe from the ‘Safari Friend’ stamp set by MFT, which I had colored and fussy cut during the ‘Daily Marker 30 day Coloring Challenge’ held by Kathy.

You can check out all my colorings of different images on my insta here.

In addition, I adhered few leaf images from the set.

I also stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set with black ink on the bottom.

I simply love this color combination. Do you?

Do let me know in the comments below.

Beary Wishes

Hey Crafties!

In my earlier post, I used watercolors to create a background.

This card uses watercolors too though the finished card looks entirely different.

I used shades of blue for my background.

I then took MFT dienamics Snow drifts Coverup and didn’t use the frame just the positives. Mounted the pieces on foam tape.

The cute bear is from Janes Doodles stamp set. I watercolored it with brush markers.

The sentiment is from Itsy bitsy.

See through Shaker card!

Hey Crafties!

Today I have for you a shaker card with a twist!

I cut both the layers of the card so that you can view the inside sentiment.

I also didn’t have any Christmas Tree cutting-dies. I used the MFT dienamics Stitched valley to make my Christmas tree.

Also I used the sentiment to make the base for the tree.

The inside sentiment is by itsy bitsy

Hippo Wishes!

Hi Crafties!

Today I have something other than cards for you!

Any guesses?

Well, it’s a money envelope! 💌

I used my envelope punch board to make the envelope with white cardstock.

To add interest, I tore a yellow piece of cardstock and mounted it alongwith fussy cut hippo images from ‘Happy Hippos’ stamp set by Mft.

The ‘happy’ word is from Concord and 9th. I adhered 2 diecuts together to give 3D effect.

I made this envelope on order for a lil one’s birthday!

Here comes Santa…

Hi Crafties!

How are you doing? I hope you are doing awesome.

I have been in awe of Santa Claus ever since I got to know about him as a child.

He brings back feelings of excitement, surprise and happy times.

So to recreate these feelings I have a card for you featuring our beloved Santa!

For this card, I took a 5.5× 5 inches card panel.

I used Craftangles ‘Christmas stencil’ and blended various distress oxides in shades of blue over it.

I then used different distress oxides for the individual elements.

The sentiment stamp and the border stamp is by ‘Itsy bitsy’.

I also splattered watered down white gesso over the scene to make it look like it was snowing.

I then foam mounted the panel on my card base. And my card is done!

Tunnel Inside!

Hi Crafties!

Layers in cards are so much fun to make and also create so much interest.

Today I have a inside tunnel card where I have created a jungle inside.

For the front , I kept it monochrome with the color green.

I used the ‘Happy’ sentiment stamp by ‘Craftyscrappers’ and applied Twisted citron & Lucky Clover distress oxides to create shaded effect.

I also added stripes using the ‘Fun with stripes’ stamp set by Mudra and finished it off with green sparkling dotties.

Here’s the inside :

I used the ‘Critter Party’ stamp set by Mudra stamps.

The amazing Jennifer Mcguire has step by step instructions on youtube. You can check out her blog post here.

For the ink blended background, I used Twisted Citron & Lucky Clover distress oxides.

I stamped, watercolored & fussy cut the images and adhered them accordingly.

I also used a cloud stencil with Salty ocean distress oxide.

The sentiment is from the same stamp set.

Here is the video of my card in action :

A Bunch of Flowers

Hiya Crafties!

Coloring is a stress release therapy that not only kids but grown-ups too must partake.

It is especially useful when we have long travelling to do or are just plain bored. 😉

There are different coloring mediums we can use like color pencils, watercolors, copic markers, brush pens, etc. The list is endless.

For my one layer card today, I have used color pencils.

The beautiful stamp is by ‘Craftyscrappers’ called ‘Be kind – be you’.

I have done a bit of shading for the leaves and also the flowers.

First I stamped the image on watercolor cardstock with Versafine Black Onyx ink.

Then I colored in the image and fussy cut it.

I restamped the image after coloring to get crisper outlines. I used my Misti for this.

For the background, I used the ‘Distress Circles’ stencil again by ‘Craftyscrappers’ along with ‘Whipped Cream’ sparkling paste by ‘Little Birdie’ here & there.

I also sprinkled frosted sugar powder by ‘Dress my Craft’ over paste while it was wet.

The sentiment is from the same set.

Finished it off with white 3D outliner drops & Vanilla sparkling dotties.

Do let me know your thoughts in the comments.

Thank you for stopping by… Have a great day ahead!

Floral Easel Card and Tag

Hi Crafties!

I am back with a tutorial for the oval easel card & tag that I posted about in my earlier post.
Let’s get started :

For the card,

I used the Simon Says Stamp ‘Flower Explosion’ background stamp set. It is such a beautiful design.
I heat embossed the image with black embossing powder on watercolor cardstock and colored with Koi watercolours.

Then I used an oval die on the panel and slightly bigger oval-die on black cardstock.

After that, I used the Thanks-die by Pink & Main on the watercolored panel. I also die-cut the ‘thanks’ sentiment from black cardstock. This ‘black cardstock thanks diecut’ I stuck in the negative space made on the watercolored panel.

This is called the ‘inlaid die-cutting technique’.

Then I stuck the watercolored panel and oval black cardstock panel together to add more interest.

I also cut two more oval panels from white cardstock. On one panel I scored at around 1 cm. And applied glue at that part on the backside and adhered it to the other panel.

I also scored the same oval panel midway & applied glue on its lower half (this time on the front) and stuck my watercolored black outlined panel.

Then I stamped the sentiment on a strip of paper and adhered it with foam tape on the inside of the card at the end so that when the card opens, it acts as stopper for the front panel.
Ta da! Our card is ready!

Fr the tag:

I used a Spellbinders tag-die both on watercolour and black cardstock.
After masking, I stamped the same stamp set on the tag and colored it.
I then stamped the sentiment and punched a hole at the top and finished it off with a blue ribbon from my stash.

Pop Art

Hi Crafties!

I have a Pop Art card that I made for MFT 2018 Card Design Superstar – Coloring Virtuoso

Do you know what Pop Art is? I am always awed by pop art drawings.

Citing Wikipedia :

Pop art is an art movement that emerged in Britain and the United States during the mid- to late-1950s.

The movement presented a challenge to traditions of fine art by including imagery from popular and mass culture, such as advertising, comic books and mundane cultural objects.

One of its aims is to use images of popular (as opposed to elitist) culture in art, emphasizing the banal or kitschy elements of any culture, most often through the use of irony.
It is also associated with the artists’ use of mechanical means of reproduction or rendering techniques. In pop art, material is sometimes visually removed from its known context, isolated, or combined with unrelated material.

For my card, I was inspired by Andy Warhol’s pop art drawings.

I used the pineapple stamp image from the BB Polynesian Paradise stamp set by My Favorite Things (MFT).

I first divided my panel into nine equal squares.

I then stamped the image nine times using my Misti and colored it with brush pens.

The sentiment is also from the same set.

I then stuck my panel on an A2 card base.

I took an unnecessary long time deciding the position of the sentiment. Whether to stamp in the middle or in the right!

Does this happen to you too? If the answer is yes, then we can safely say that “Great minds think alike”😉.

I have wanted to make a pop art card since a long time.

I love the contrasting effect that the various colors are having on the eyes. Hope I did justice to this card.

MFT 2018 Card Design Superstar – Coloring Virtuoso

Thank you Cards

Hey Crafties!

We celebrated Teacher’s day in India on 5th September.
5th September is the birth anniversary of a great teacher Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, who was a staunch believer of education, and was a well-known diplomat, scholar, the President of India and above all, a teacher.

To celebrate this occasion I made 2 cards for my niece’s teachers!

I used the radiating rays stencil by Craftyscrappers.

For the green rays card, I used Twisted Citron distress oxide and Mowed Lawn distress ink through the stencil.

I diecut an oval piece of cardstock and blended Wild Honey distress oxide on it.

I then stamped, colored and fussy cut the cute girl image from Waffle Flower’s ‘Hello’ stamp set.

The sentiment I stamped from itsy bitsy’s ‘Happy Bird-Day’ stamp set.

For the Yellow rays card, I used Wild Honey distress oxide through that same stencil.

For this card, I stamped, colored and fussy cut the same girl image.

The sentiment is stamped in a contrasting color.

Made both these cards in less than an hour which was quite a feat for me 😀

Do let me know your thoughts in the comments.
